Keriann Maxelix Assistant Principal

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you well and that you are enjoying these last weeks of summer.  It has been a privilege to serve as your Assistant Principal for the past nine years and it is with great enthusiasm that I begin the new role of Interim Principal at Westover for the 2025–2026 school year.

First, I want to extend heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Saba-Price on her new role as Interim Associate Superintendent, Elementary.  Her steadfast leadership and vision have been central to our growth and success at Westover, and I know her knowledge and expertise will continue to strengthen our district.

My commitment to our school community remains strong and unwavering.  I am dedicated to building on the incredible work already happening at Westover, while leading with care, openness, and determination.  I am also so proud of the dedicated and talented teachers and staff who make Westover such a special place each day for our students.

I am also delighted to welcome Mr. Tim Foley to our leadership team. His extensive experience in both K–8 and middle school education will be invaluable as we continue to grow and strengthen our program.  His knowledge and dedication will be a tremendous asset to our students, staff, and families. At the same time, I want to express sincere gratitude to Mrs. Kathleen Quaglino for her ongoing collaboration and unwavering commitment to our school.  Together, our leadership team will serve our community with strength and unity.  Furthermore, we are committed to working closely with Mrs. Saba-Price to ensure a seamless transition for our school community over the next few weeks.

Together, we will continue to grow through our shared priorities:

  • Nurturing a positive and safe school climate through Choose Love – fostering a culture of kindness, respect, and belonging for all.

  • Focusing on student learning and the whole child – ensuring each student is challenged, supported and inspired through strong academics and our arts magnet theme, which fosters creativity, innovation and self-expression.

  • Collaborating with all – partnering with staff, families, and our community, because our greatest successes come when we work together.

  • Developing our K–8 program – as we add 7th grade this year and continue expanding, we will thoughtfully and collaboratively strengthen a program that prepares students for long-term success.

Finally, a warm welcome to all of our new families joining us this year! Whether this is your first experience with our school or you are returning with younger siblings, we are so glad you are here. I look forward to meeting you at our Kindergarten or New Student Orientation on August 26th.

This school has always been more than just a building—it is a special place filled with heart, resilience, and joy.  We will continue to keep your children at the center of everything we do.  Partnerships between home and school make all the difference in the experiences that we provide your children. Please know that my door is always open for your feedback and ideas.

I look forward to welcoming our students back and beginning another successful school year!

Sincerely,
Keriann Maxelix

Dear Westover Families,

It is with gratitude that I write to you as the new Interim Assistant Principal, welcoming you to an exciting new school year at Westover. I hope your summer was restful, refreshing, and filled with opportunities to recharge. Now, together, we  look forward to the  energy of the classrooms and the  buzz in our hallways once again.

For those I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, I join Westover from Rogers International School, where I served as the MYP Coordinator and Design teacher. Since 2001, I have been part of the Stamford Public Schools community in a variety of roles—including 3rd and 4th grade teacher, math teacher, and math coach. I have also had the unique opportunity to support the transformation of an elementary school into a thriving K–8 program, and I am eager to bring that experience with me as Westover continues to grow. Most of all, I look forward to learning alongside each of you, as I firmly believe that education is a shared journey between staff, students, and families.

Throughout my years in Stamford, I have often heard about Westover’s strong academic reputation and excellent arts programing.  Now, I am honored to experience it firsthand. I am excited to collaborate with our staff, to learn from Mrs. Maxelix and Mrs. Quaglino, and to help carry forward Westover’s legacy with compassion, openness, and a commitment to connection. I hope to see you at the many events we will host this year, and I invite you to stop by and introduce yourself the next time you are in the building. Please also know that my door—and my inbox—are always open should you ever wish to connect.
As summer winds down, I encourage you to savor these last days of rest and reflection. I cannot wait to welcome you back soon and to begin this exciting year together.

With warm regards,
Tim Foley

Dear Westover  Community,

My name is Kathleen Quaglino, and I feel truly thankful to be the newest addition to the leadership team at Westover.  I have worked for the Stamford Public Schools since 1998 in various capacities: first as a Special Education preschool teacher, a teacher of students on the Autism Spectrum, and as IEP compliance support teacher.  Since 2016, I have been working in the district as an Assistant Director of Special Education.  During my time in the role, I wore several different hats:  supervising our special education reading initiative, creating and supporting all of our specialized programs, and creating a process for students to receive behavioral supports as part of their educational programming.

As my three boys have grown and become more independent, I came to the realization that I missed being a part of a school community.  I have had the benefit of nurturing and supportive school environments that are not just for kids, they are for families.  Our schools and classrooms are places where our kids make lasting friendships, and we as parents do as well.  I hope to be part of this environment at Westover.

Lastly, while I will be supporting the Special Education Team at Westover, I also will be learning from two of the best leaders in the district.  Mrs. Saba-Price and Ms. Maxelix have already started to share their wisdom and philosophies and I am looking forward to the upcoming year!

Sincerely,

Kathleen Quaglino
