Creative Arts Program
ARTS & PROBLEM SOLVING (A.P.S.)
During your child’s fourth and fifth grade years, they will participate in the creation of full-scale productions. Before this event, our teacher/artist will guide your child through a series of carefully designed master classes that nurture their inner creativity. The core of this experience is to provide students with a chance to perform and share their passion onstage in front of a live audience. These performances integrate all of the A.P.S. classes, from scenery designed and executed by the art students to music, dance, gymnastics, and acting.
ESSENTIALS
Children participate in an essential course in each area to learn basic skills. They cycle through each of the disciplines with their home base classmates. In grades kindergarten through two, they rotate daily, and in grades three through five, they participate in each APS discipline for 3 days before rotating.
FOCUS
Each child is also given an opportunity for deeper exploration in one of the arts through an intensified focus course. In grades 3 - 5, the students attend their focus course every day for four weeks.
CULMINATING ACTIVITY
After each Focus course, parents are invited into the classroom to observe what the students have been learning and creating. We also recognize that you may want to share your child's experience with family members. We have set up a secure Google Classroom to showcase the work of our young artists and future creatives. Please don't hesitate to contact your child's Creative Arts teacher for information on accessing this Google Classroom.
SHOWCASE
In grades four and five the students present full-scale productions. These performances integrate all of the A.P.S. classes from scenery designed and executed by the art students, to music, dance, gymnastics, and acting.
