ROssco's before school program

Through a collaborative effort with Roscco, our school is able to offer a before school enrichment program. ROSCCO's before school activity program is administered by ROSCCO organization.. The program is designed to meet the needs of working parents by providing a safe & stimulating environment. The program is located in our spacious cafeteria,

 

 

Philosophy

All school age children deserve: An affordable, quality program which offers a safe, supportive and friendly environment, encourages a positive self image and confidence in their individual abilities, provides fun activities and academic studying opportunities.
 

Activities

BEFORE SCHOOL ACTIVITIES include: Arts and crafts, indoor table games, indoor and outdoor play, reading and story time, and special activities.
 

Days and Hours of Operation

The Before School Activity Programs run from 7:30 a.m. until the beginning of the school day.

Both the BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITY PROGRAMS begin on the second day of school and follow the Stamford Public School Calendar thereafter. The programs do not operate when school is not in session due to holidays, inclement weather or other emergencies.

Mondays 

  • SoundWaters - 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆:  The SoundWaters Discovery Team will engage students in meaningful science experiences, experiments and adventures. Through this intensive experience the students will have hands-on encounters with live animals from Long Island Sound, complete lab experiments, and create their own Long Island Sound artwork. 

 

  • Beyond Kids Foundation - Fashion:  Students will grab a pencil and paper and learn how to sketch some awesome fashion designs. Students will also learn how to create the latest custom D.I.Y. Rip & Style T-shirt for your family & friends and become a young entrepreneur.

 

  • Arts & Crafts:  Let your creativity flow in Arts and Crafts! Students will have the opportunity to make unique hands-on projects such as seasonal themed art, rainbow scratch art and keychain making. They will work with a number of different materials as they color, cut, design and create.  

 

  • Drones: Through the course of this program you will learn to harness the high-performance power of these deceptively small indoor racers, develop precision sensorimotor reflexes, and explore a familiar environment from a completely novel perspective!  And as the name implies, we will RACE!!!

 

Tuesdays

  • LEGO Club:  A variety of LEGO themed building challenges and games that inspire creativity.  

 

  • 𝐙𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐚 Kids:  Zumba Kids features the famous Zumba Fitness music, rhythms, and beats along with Zumba choreography broken into kid-friendly routines, giving children an outlet to jump, dance, shake, and swing their hips. It also adds age-appropriate games and activities, helping children gain coordination, self-confidence, teamwork skills, and overcome fear.

 

  • Play and Learn Mandarin Chinese:  Students engage in an interactive learning environment through play games, hands-on activities, music, movements and storytelling. They learn expressions to introduce themselves, to greet other people, to ask ways, and to describe what they like, etc. At the same time, Chinese culture practice will also be introduced. 

 

  • 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐭s - 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞:  This program is offered to girls to explore the issues of body confidence, self-esteem and social pressures.  Girls will learn about the strength within themselves, and how to encourage others to see their worth.  

 

Wednesdays

  • 𝐌𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞:  Your scientists will be doing hands on chemistry while learning the basic knowledge of the science! They will be creating chemical reactions such as the infamous elephant toothpaste that they can’t stop talking about and slime they think they have perfected but have not!

 

  • Macinspires: Junior Builders:  Projects challenge students to build more intricate models of bridges, buildings, and more. In each class, students learn about new building materials, up-cycling materials and how to creatively construct projects using design based thinking. Inspire, learn and create with this hands-on STEAM class!

Thursdays

  • 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 & 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 Century: 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗺𝘆, 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘆, 𝗢𝗼𝗲𝘆, 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲:  We’ll explore herpetology, the science of reptiles and amphibians, learn about polymers by making our own slime, get our hands dirty by planting and meeting some worms, and more! Kids may discover nature’s recyclers, make recycled paper, explore the fungus among us, and more!

  • Youth Athletes 4 Change Basketball:  Practicing individual skills: Lay ups, shooting form, ball handling & dribbling, footwork, basic passes, movement skills and 3 on 3. 

 

  • 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴:  A class where kids explore topics in game design using visual programming apps such as Scratch Jr. or code.org. During this journey into digital arts they will create games, puzzles, stories through an early introduction to coding principles.
